When will the new replay advertising be introduced?

The Replay advertising was first introduced in Switzerland between 4 October and 21 November 2022 in stages. Initially, it mainly affected private TV channels such as RTL, ProSiebenSat.1 and CH Media (e.g. 3+, 4+, 5+, TV24 etc.).

At that time, public broadcasters such as SRF, ARD or ZDF continued to have no mandatory advertising in Replay mode.

Important change from autumn 2025

From autumn 2025, this will change across Switzerland:
A new industry agreement stipulates that public broadcasters such as SRF, ARD, ZDF and ORF will also automatically display advertising – when starting, pausing and fast-forwarding programmes. This rule applies to all TV providers.

This means that Replay advertising will then be shown on all channels, regardless of the subscription or provider.

What does this mean for you?

  • Replay advertising will be shown in a compressed form: short spots at the start (Start-Ad), ad images when pausing (Pause-Ad) and short blocks when fast-forwarding (Fast-Forward-Ad).

  • Manual fast-forwarding through long ad breaks will no longer be necessary.

  • With our Skip-Ad function, you can continue to watch Replay programmes without this advertising – easily and conveniently, with just one click.
